Acupuncture/Dry Needling

Acupuncture is the process of inserting sterile needles into points of the body to relieve pain and muscle tightness. Although Acupuncturists have claimed to assist in the management of all manner of medical problems, Physiotherapists at Advance Physiotherapy are trained to use Acupuncture for pain related to muscle or joint dysfunction, including headaches related to muscle tension.

Acupuncture has been developed and used as a treatment for thousands of years, but more recently it has been accepted into western medicine with NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) publishing a report in May 2009 advocating it’s use in the management of Lower Back Pain. Further research used to validate the use of Acupuncture is gradually emerging discussing the effectiveness of Acupuncture to treat a wide range of conditions.
