Sports Massage

Sports Massage by appropriately trained individuals can be used to relieve muscle tension, promote recovery from activity and restore balance to the muscular system. Many athletes will develop training programmes/schedules that include regular massage and believe it can help recovery from sport as well as injury prevention. This type of massage is often much deeper than a “regular massage” and can produce slight muscle soreness after treatment.

Soft Tissue Release

Whilst sports massage is used to relieve muscle tension, therapists can use a number of different techniques including Assisted Stretching, Trigger Point Release (relief of trigger points within muscles), and Muscle Energy Techniques  (MET) to name a few. Muscle energy techniques use targeted contraction of muscles and stretches to increase the range of movement at a joint.
